Privacy Policy

1. What data do we collect?

We collect data that you provide to us during registration and use of the platform: name, email address, location, sport interests and goals. Additionally, technical data such as IP address, browser type and page visits are collected automatically.

2. How do we use your data?

• Providing and improving the platform
• Matching you with other athletes
• Communication about your account and updates
• Analytics and statistics (anonymized)

3. Cookies

FitBuddie uses functional cookies for login status and language preference. Analytical cookies are only placed after your consent.

4. How long do we retain your data?

We retain your personal data no longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:

• Account and profile data (name, email, preferences): for as long as your account is active.
• Health and fitness data (steps, heart rate, sleep, measurements, workouts): for as long as your account is active, unless you delete it earlier yourself.
• Inactive accounts: after 24 months of inactivity you will receive a warning email. If the account is not used again within 30 days, it is automatically deleted.
• Deleted accounts: all personal data is permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days. Backups are overwritten within 90 days.
• Technical logs (IP address, error logs): maximum 12 months.
• Legal retention: invoices and payment data are retained for 7 years as required by tax law.

5. How to delete your data

You have the right to have your data deleted at any time. There are two ways to do this:

• In the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Via email: send a deletion request to info@fitbuddie.nl from the email address linked to your account. We will process the request within 30 days.

Data we are legally required to retain (such as invoices) is kept for the duration of the statutory retention period, but is not used for any other purposes.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

In addition to the right to deletion, you also have the right to access, rectification, restriction, data portability, and to object to processing. Send your request to info@fitbuddie.nl. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
